Houston bicyclers: Tuesday is election day and BikeHouston wants to make sure you know about Proposition B. The Proposition is a bond initiative that is coming up on the November 6th ballot, and it will open up a new world of recreational cycling in our city.
Support for Prop B is being driven by ParksByYou, a growing coalition of citizens and organizations including BikeHouston whose mission is to increase access to and improve neighborhood parks and bayous in Houston. Our first goal is to pass a $166 million bond issue on November 6th that will transform the City of Houston through a system of connected trails and green spaces along our bayous and neighborhood parks. This initiative will improve public health and safety, build stronger neighborhoods, boost our competitiveness as a city that can compete for talent, and enhance ongoing efforts that improve water quality and flood control.
When it is complete, this project will provide cyclists and other recreational athletes with 150 miles of off-street paths, so you can understand why we are excited about supporting this initiative. It is truly an opportunity for all Houstonians to make a difference for future generations of cyclists and runners. Backed by the City of Houston, it won’t even require a tax increase.
Please vote YES for Proposition B on the November 6th Ballot. Next, help us spread the word. For more information on Proposition B go to ParksByYou.
