Houston cyclists needed for Texas’ Bike Lobby Day!

BikeTexas is urging us to help represent Houston at the Cyclists in Suits event in Austin on March 25th! Interested cyclists should register at the link below and indicate their interest in riding a bus to Austin.

BikeTexas Cyclists in Suits – Texas Bike Lobby Day is a biennial event held during the Texas Legislature’s regular sessions. It is great opportunity for Texas cyclists to share their love of cycling with their state legislators. Our goal is to have cyclists from every legislative district in Texas visit the Capitol with our staff and remind the legislature that we are voters and we want them to represent our cycling interests. Please join us!

Meet:
8:30 am

Coffee and light breakfast provided.
Beginning Brief:
9:00 am
Get briefed on the important issues and to learn best practices for meeting with legislators.

Meet Your Legislators:
Immediately following the beginning brief
Visit legislative offices and meet with legislators and their staffs about the Complete Streets Bill, Safe Passing Bill, and other bills of concern to Texas cyclists. In the course of the day, we will see the House or the Senate in session. We’ll take a group photo with the Capitol as our backdrop, then retire to the BikeTexas offices for a happy hour before boarding buses for the trip home.

Lunch:
The Capitol Grill will be open in the Capitol Extension. Please anticipate approximately $10 per person for lunch.

Happy Hour:
When the work is done (target is 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm). BikeTexas Headquarters, 1902 E. 6th St.

Travel Resources:
If you are interested in catching a ride by bus or carpool from Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston or San Antonio, or are interested in managing a ride from your area, please indicate this on the registration form or email us at events@biketexas.org.
