Boy hit by pickup truck dies in hospital
A 12-year-old boy struck by a pickup in north Harris County Saturday afternoon died at a hospital, the Harris County Sheriff's Department said.
The boy, identified by sheriff's deputies as Nathan Edward Johnston, was riding a bicycle southbound in the 26200 block of Aldine Westfield Road about 2 p.m. when he crossed from the west side of the road to the east.
A white Chevrolet pickup towing a trailer loaded with lawn equipment attempted to swerve away from the boy, but missed and struck him. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities said the pickup driver stopped to render aid. The Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
