river oaks area to clear lake - 2004/11/26 15:13 This route isn't through the nicest most bike friendly areas and I'm not sure of construction, it's been a while since I had to commute out that direction to Lyondale Citgo plant, but here goes. Take detours as nessasary.

Get on W. Alabama and head east,
until you reach Scott then turn south,
when you reach Wheeler turm east,
then at MLK/Calhoun go south on MLK,
When you reach OST go east,
until you reach Wheeler then go south east,
When you reach Griggs you will turn north east,
until you turn east on Lawndale.
When you reach Broadway go south and keep a look out to the southeast for Galveston Road and that will take you to Clearlake

An alternate route is to keep going on Lawndale until you reach Scarbough Ln. then go south until you reach W. Jackson then go east til you hit Red Bluff then turn south. This will take you past Armond Bayou Park and to Nasa Road 1.

Not too sure if that is more bike friendly then Highway 3 but the scenery might be nicer. Another disclaimer is that I had to remind myself about this route by looking at Map Quest so take it for what it's worth, but since I'm thinking that I cwould like to do at least a metric century once a month I think I will ride this route myself sometime.
