Bicyclist killed in apparent hit-and-run accident

A man on a bicycle was killed late Thursday after he was struck by a car in an apparent hit-and-run accident in northeast Houston, police said.
The victim, who has not been identified, was hit about 10 p.m. in the 8900 block of Jensen near Laura Koppe.
The man was thrown about 100 feet from the force of the impact, police said. Debris from the broken bicycle and pieces of the man's clothing also were strewn along the roadway.
The driver who struck the bicycle rider fled, but police found a license plate at the scene they believe came from the vehicle.
Police were questioning several people overnight who may have witnessed the fatal accident.
