Bellaire to Memorial Drive/Eldridge - 2006/08/23 23:37 Hi All - this may be impossible (or just suicidal) but being new to Houston, I have this funny notion of bikecommuting to work (which is not far from the intersection of Eldridge and Memorial Drive) from home in Bellaire.

I see 2 possible routes of attack:

1. From the South:

S. Rice to Braes Bayou - I then get stuck at where it ends at Gessner - although not an official bike path, can I coninue along the Bayou? - if yes, it seems, like I could take that to Eldridge and then come up to Memorial. In the alternative, I would have to work my way up to Bray (typo on the map? Braes?) Bayou Park and then zig zag up Sharpcrest --> Townpark --> Briarpark --> Burgoyne --> Seagler --> Briar Forest --> Eldridge -- > Memorial.

2. From the North:

Evergreen --> Renwick --> Jessamine --> Braewick --> Sharpview -- then I get stuck - would need to find a way to Clarewood and then I can work my way to Sandspoint --> Briarpark, etc. An althernative may be to take Renwick all the way up to what appears to be an abandoned rail track and then come along it west (possible?) along Westpark --> Savoy --> and then pick up the Clarewood route above.

Or just keep driving!!

Any thoughts, suggestions, alternatives, WARNINGS, greatly appreciated!!!!

Re:Bellaire to Memorial Drive/Eldridge - 2007/01/05 05:11 I would make my way over to the south end of the Briarpark bike lane, and then go north on it and work my way towards the Terry Hershey Trail, which goes to exactly to Memorial and Eldridge. The City of Houston Bikeway map will explain it all to you. It's online. www.houstonbikeways.org
