Driver of black Ford pickup sought in patriarch's death

On Wednesday, Harris County sheriff's deputies said a hit-and-run driver struck the man as he rode his bike home from his job at a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Compean became the third local victim to be killed this week by a hit-and-run driver.
Compean had just ended his overnight shift as a janitor at the Wal-Mart when, investigators said, a black Ford four-wheel-drive truck struck him as he traveled south along the 200 block of Black Rock near Lantern in east Harris County about 8:15 a.m.

The pickup driver was traveling north along Black Rock when he suddenly crossed into the southbound lanes, striking the cyclist, authorities said.
The pickup driver fled the area without assisting Compean, who was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
