Texas 24-hour Time Trials - 2008/08/17 21:40
This is a great event for riders of all interests. It will be held next month in Cleburne, TX. Below is the official invitation. I hope to see you out there!
THE TEXAS TIME TRIALS
September 25 – 27, 2008 www.tt24tt.com
The Texas Time Trials would like to extend a warm, Texas-sized invitation to all of y'all. Whether you are an Ultra Racer, Randonneur or a rider wanting to test your abilities against the clock, we have an event for you. The Texas Time Trials is actually five events in one. The Tejas 500 RAAM Qualifier will have (3) different start times, the 48-Hour start, Thursday September 25th at 6:00 pm, then a 42-hour start (6 hours later) and also a 36-hour start at 6:00am, September 26th. The object is to have all the riders and teams finish about the same time for dinner and the Awards Bash Saturday evening.
The Texas 24-Hour Time Trial will start Friday evening Sept 26th at 6:00 pm. The UMCA 12-Hour National Championship will start on Saturday morning September 27th at 6:00am. The 6-Hour Shoot-Out will begin Saturday afternoon at noon. New for this year, we have added a 20 mile sprint. The staggered start times make for an exciting event injecting new riders onto the course. This introduction of new riders to the course adds to the excitement of each event and will work to keep riders already out on the course fired-up. All events will end in time for the Awards Ceremony. Last year, the Awards Ceremony was a fun place to meet other riders, eat and pick up trophies. With riders from most of the states in the USA and from other countries, the Awards Bash was also an unbelievable reunion (see past rider list on website).
The course is a scenic and challenging 20-mile loop. Crews can “hand off” to their riders from the start-finish area, each lap. This venue also allows riders to “crew themselves” from the trunk of their own car, negating the need for an expensive “follow entourage.” The start-finish is a fun place for your crew and/or resting team riders to congregate and allows for a pleasant social atmosphere. We will feed your crew a pancake breakfast Saturday morning and then we will wine and dine everyone with a hot dawg buffet at our Awards Bash after the event. Bring the family for a fun-filled day at the races! Riders, Crews and teams are welcome to pitch tents in the field under the large trees.
Awards will be abundant and worthy of your accomplishment. All riders and team members completing The Tejas 500 within the 48-hour time limit will receive an awesome customized trophy. Additionally those qualifying for RAAM will also receive a “RAMM qualified” plaque from the UMCA. Trophies will also be awarded to top finishers of every category of each race. Trophies for co-ed, male-male, female-female, teams and tandems. Team and tandem winners will receive trophies for each rider. We also have a recumbent division. In the 24-Hour race, all rider completing 260 miles in 24 hours will receive a trophy. In the 12-Hour National Championship, all riders completing 160 miles in 12 hours will receive a trophy. Last year we awarded 130 trophies.
If 500 miles sounds too challenging, try a four-person team. Team riders seem to make a party out of this event every year! The Texas Time Trials has become more than just a great event; it’s a fun-filled ride, a reunion that brings RAAM legends, randonneurs and world-class Ultra racers together in a social setting to celebrate our ability to ride. This is a great event for the seasoned racer or someone wanting to try their first Ultra Race. Happy Trails!
