Eldridge Parkway no longer safe - 2006/05/18 15:59 After a couple of road-rage incidents in as many days, I have decided to issue an advisory concerning Eldridge Parkway. The small shoulder has been lost due to re-striping and insertion of left turn lanes, and it is no longer as safe as it was during peak commuting times, with impatient 50-55 MPH traffic approaching from the rear in the dark.

Between FM529 and West Little York, I recommend that cyclists wind their way through the local neighborhood as a bypass.

Coming from FM529, desiring to go south:

1. Parallel Eldridge going south on Mayard or Satsuma
2. Jog east on Emmett
3. Look at a map to see the fine details through the neighborhood, but your goal is to exit onto West Little York via McKendree Park Dr., turn west, then turn south again on Eldridge and continue on your journey

As usual, the County "improves", and cyclists suffer. Hallelujah.
