Commuting in Hershey park - 2009/05/21 19:42 Does anyone use the hershey park trails for commuting? I would like to but have not since I would be on the trails before the official 7:00am opening. I would probably have already started but I need to park my car in the lot at the beltway and am concerned that the constables would have it ticketed or even worse towed for being there before 7:00. Any thoughts or advice?

Re:Commuting in Hershey park - 2009/05/22 15:49 There are commuters on the path from before 6 am every day.

Park in the neighborhood to the east of the beltway. You can park on a public street, no one can bother you. Or, ditch the car altogether, go carless. Where are you starting, where are you going to?

Re:Commuting in Hershey park - 2009/05/27 16:09 I live near Hammerly and Gessner and don't quite feel brave enough to ride from home down to the BW parking lot. Also I need to be able to get to/from work in less that 1-1/2 hours. Since I would be going all the way to Barker Cypress I think starting at the BW is a good option.

Re:Commuting in Hershey park - 2009/05/27 16:17 Oh, you have another option, a good one:

Go WEST on Hammerley, and work your way through the neighborhood (look at Google maps) to where Chatterton hits the Addicks dam road. There is a smooth paved bike path there which goes all the way in back of ConocoPhillips and Shell, that area. It's LOVELY.

You'll be out on N. Dairy-Ashford. Get down to the I-10 access road. Energy Corridor District has installed wide sidewalks along the I-10 access on both sides which go ALL THE WAY to Barker-Cypress. You'll be able to go straight to your workplace. Going down Eldridge to the THT would be quite a detour.

Watch out for those driveways and intersections, though, when on the sidewalk. And some are still under construction.

Re:Commuting in Hershey park - 2009/05/27 16:18 Test ride what I just told you on the weekend, when it's daylight and you are not under time pressure.
