<description>The New York Cycle Club (http://www.nycc.org), a 1,600+ member organization, located in New York City, is conducting a worldwide bicycle accident survey. The results will be published as part of a cycling risk assessment study that will be made public at the conclusion of the survey. Included in the survey are data points considering helmet usage.

<title>Bike Lanes, Trail Access for Cambridge Bridge</title>
			<link>http://www.bikehouston.org/content/view/326/2/</link>
<description>A project manager from Public Works told representatives from three bicycle groups that dedicated bike lanes could be included on the new Cambridge Bridge that is under construction near Hermann Park and the Texas Medical Center.
Stephen Campagna said that striping that matches current bike lanes on Cambridge can be continued on the bridge approach from Holcombe Blvd. and the bridge crossing Brays Bayou to MacGregor. He said that a change order will be required but that the cost would probably not be a big issue because striping is the last activity to take place.
Dedicated bike lanes were promised in the early plans for the bridge and were requested by Baylor College of Medicine following the death of one of the institution&amp;rsquo;s students while biking on the way to school. The current plan called for a 14-foot &amp;ldquo;shared&amp;rdquo; lane.
&amp;ldquo;A dedicated lane lets motorists know that bicyclists will be on the road,&amp;rdquo; said Ruth SoRelle, representing the Texas Medical Center Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee and Baylor College of Medicine. She said that representatives from the city had appeared at TMC committee meetings and said dedicated lanes would be included on the bridge.
