The City of Hunter's Creek Village, an elite suburban Houston community near Memorial Park, continues to enforce a backwards law forcing bicyclists off the road. A bicycle enthusiast who has been riding the same route on Memorial drive for almost 10 years was stopped by Hunters Creek Village police earlier this month, according to an email from the cyclist. Attempts to explain that his road bike was not suitable for a narrow, uneven sidewalk built for and used by pedestrians were met with threats to be taken to jail and a ticket. Meanwhile, the legal petition seeking a declaratory judgement against this ordinance is in the discovery phase.
