For city bicycling to catch on we need a revolution in our society's infrastructure. Right now a city rider needs to be a road warrior, and the bike needs to be cheap and ugly so it won't get stolen. That's not a bike friendly culture.

BikeHouston is the successor of the Houston Area Bicyclist Alliance and the Two Wheel Transit Authority. A process of reinvention began about in the middle of 2001 and is ongoing. Bylaws were approved by the interim board December 2003. The first Annual General Meeting was held January 27, 2004.
