Do you hesitate to ride the streets of Houston because you are uncomfortable and feel vulnerable to the dangers of city traffic? Would you ride your bike in town more often if you felt safer on the road? Riding in the city can actually be very safe and pleasurable if you know and practice the skills taught in the League of American Bicyclists Bike Ed courses.

BIKEHOUSTON is proud to present the Bike Ed Road I course. This is a 10 hour course designed to increase the competence and confidence of students when riding under various road, traffic, terrain and climate conditions. It includes both classroom and on-bike instruction. Topics include traffic law, basic bicycle handling and maintenance, crash avoidance maneuvers, and group riding etiquette. Whatever the level of your riding skills, this course will increase your enjoyment of riding and will give you the confidence to ride safely wherever you wish to go.

This class is also a prequrisite for becoming a League Certified Instructor. A Instructor certification seminar will be held in Houston in October 2005.

The two-part class will be held:

Wednesday, September 7, 6:00pm-10:00pm and
Saturday, September 10, 9:00am-3:30pm

Location: Memorial Park golf club house next door to Becks Prime

Cost: $50 (all course materials included)

Join us! All you have to do is register, attend the class on Wednesday evening and bring your bicycle and helmet on Saturday morning. We have spaces for up to 15 students.
