Local cyclist Gregg Nady has been very actively campaigning to have a bike trail built to connect the Terry Hershey bike trail with the George Bush Park bike trail. This 3 mile connector would result in a 16-17 mile continuous off-road paved trail from Fry Road in Katy all the way to Beltway 8. Gregg has a map available to illustrate the details of the proposed trail.
Gregg has gotten quite a few local community organizations involved and the Energy Corridor District has taken this project on to raise matching funds. Gregg and the ECMD have raised over $60,000 so far towards a goal of $110,000. Note that this sounds like a lot of money but the amount will be leveraged quite a bit further when matching funds are added.

If you, your bike team, or your company can help make a donation, please see the info below.

* The Energy Corridor Management District (ECMD) is raising matching funds to build a connecting trail from Terry Hershey Park bike trail to the George Bush Park bike trail in west Harris County (see the attached maps for locations).

* The 3 mile connection would create a continuous off-road paved trail of 16-17 miles from Fry Road in Katy to Beltway 8.

* ECMD has raised $60,000 so far toward a minimum of $110,000 needed for Harris County to consider building the trail.

* Future connections are being planned to connect the trail to the Cullen/Bear Creek trail and the Brays Bayou trail. Alkek Velodrome is located at Cullen Park.

* The trail route will pass by: George Bush Park nature preserve (including Noble Road wilderness trail), Harris County Pct. 3 Sports Park, Fun Fair Positive Soccer fields, future Pappas family restaurant site, historic Texas Narrow Gauge Railroad route, Park 10 Business Park, the Energy Corridor, Edith Moore Nature Sanctuary, Town & Country Shopping Center & Restaurants. * The trail will be an excellent cycling commuter route for Energy Corridor and Park 10 employees.
