BikeHouston provided a letter of support to an application to create a connecting trail system from the Park on the Bend to the White Oak Bayou trail system in Northwest Houston.
BikeHouston agreed to partner on this project by providing leadership and labor along with the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Houston.
In an October, 30, 2002 letter to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, BikeHouston committed to "...provide leadership and training in bike safety and handling skills based upon the Texas Super Cyclist Curriculum put forth by the Department of Transportation and the Texas Bicycle Coalition. We will also partner with the Greater Houston Off-Road Biking Association and other Houston cycling organizations to provide additional volunteer hours towards this extremely rewarding project."
"This project clearly fits within our mission to provide educational and recreational opportunities for citizens who wish to cycle for fitness, as well as an alternative means of transportation to work and school. Children are our future, and it is important to ensure their happiness and safety. BikeHouston is pleased to participate in this project." |
