Bike & Bird the Columbia Tap Trail

Join Friends of Columbia Tap, Houston Audubon, BikeHouston and more for birdy-bike ride as part of Houston Bird Week!

The guided bike ride along the 4-mile Columbia Tap Hike & Bike Trail will be led and supported by avid birders and will involve educational material regarding:
how to bird in an urban environment
how to support birds you might find in your backyard (food, water, shelter)
how public greenspaces can sustain bird & wildlife populations
Remember to bring a reusable water bottle! All riders are highly encouraged to wear a helmet, but riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet. Meet in front of Eado Bike Co. Bike rentals available at eadobikeco.com.
ADA Accessibility: Traversing the trail is possible using all forms of rolling mobility devices (bikes, tricycles, wheelchairs, etc).

Ion District Bike Club Ride

Ride With Refugees

A seven-mile ride to raise awareness about refugee resettlement, engage the Houston community, and promote mobility. Ride with Refugees starts and ends at the BakerRipley Gulfton-Sharpstown Campus, and HPD will provide an escort. Non-riders are invited to enjoy the playground and kid-friendly Activity Fair sponsored by refugee-focused non-profits. Refreshments provided by H-E-B.

Soirée du Vélo

Join us at The Grove in Downtown Houston for Soirée du Vélo, BikeHouston’s annual benefit.
Year after year, we host a soirée to bring together bike-minded Houstonians from across the Bayou City to celebrate the joy of traveling on two wheels. This year, in addition to great company, we’ll also have an open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, an awards program, and a DJ.
Attire: Festive/cocktail/bicycle chic (helmets optional!)

Houston Bike Fest

Save the date for this celebration of cycling culture in America’s fourth-largest city! Held on Saturday, October 25, the first-ever Houston Bike Fest will feature bike demos, a vendor expo and more, right on the campus of Saint Arnold Brewing, Texas’ oldest craft brewery.
The Houston Bike Fest is free and open to the public.

Heights Bicycle Rally & Scavenger Hunt: After Party

Hosted by Houston Heights Association, the 20th Annual Bicycle Rally & Scavenger Hunt is a fun way for riders of all ages to explore the Heights neighborhood. Signup to participate in either the 5-mile or 15-mile course and be eligible to win prizes from many local businesses. Choose your own pace and start anytime after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday; don’t forget to submit your scavenger hunt clues by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
BikeHouston will be celebrating at the After Party Sunday afternoon - which is free and open to the public, even if you did not ride. Enjoy free food, drinks, live music, and family-friendly fun!

Ribbon Cutting: Sharpstown Trail

Join Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ 20, Harris County Precinct 4, Houston Parks Board, and Southwest Management District from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate completion of construction on the first phase of the Sharpstown Trail. The event will take place on the front lawn of Iglesia Elohim (8600 S Gessner Dr., Houston, TX 77036), next to the CenterPoint Energy easement where the trail is located, and features free food & refreshments, live music and family-friendly fun.
BikeHouston will be on hand to host valet bike parking and lead an inaugural bike ride suitable for riders of all ages.

Bikeway Cleanup: Westpark Drive

Roll up your sleeves and join us for 90 minutes this Saturday, March 29, at 9 a.m. We'll be sweeping up broken glass and other sharp debris. One lucky volunteer will win a door prize from Sun & Ski Sports, and we'll also have support from METRO and the Houston ToolBank! We'll gather at 11555 Westpark Drive near where Chartreuse Way and the service road meet Westpark, just west of METRO's West Bus Operating Facility.

Downtown Loop & Learn

The Downtown Loop & Learn bike ride offers a direct look at Houston's urban development. Gain insights into the planning and vision shaping Houston's future, while enjoying a scenic ride along the Downtown Bike Loop, which includes protected bike lanes on Lamar, Austin, Bagby, and a portion of the Buffalo Bayou Hike & Bike Trail.
This 3-mile ride will include a tour led by Cassie Hoeprich, Director of Planning & Economic Development at Downtown Houston+, where she will guide riders through planned or recently completed public realm projects and other urban developments, including key projects like the Main Street Promenade and POST Houston's Art Club.
Presented by Downtown Houston+, the alliance of Downtown organizations that includes the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, Central Houston, Inc., and the Houston Downtown Management District, this new quarterly series connects you with Downtown's growth and planning initiatives.
Details:
If there is rain, the ride will be rescheduled for a later date
Ride is capped at 25 participants
Route: 3-mile loop utilizing the Downtown Bike Loop, including Lamar, Austin, Bagby, and the Buffalo Bayou Hike & Bike Trail (all with protected bike lanes).
Start & End: The ride will begin and end at Discovery Green by The Grove, where bike lock-up facilities are available.
Bring your own bike and a bike lock. If you need to rent a bike, please contact EaDo Bike Co.
The ride is expected to last approximately one hour, including stops at project sites.
Enjoy a celebratory happy hour afterward at The Rustic, with your first drink on us!

Bikeway Cleanup: Houston Avenue

With the trail closures in the area, Houston Avenue’s bike lanes just became that much more important. Join the BikeHouston Clean Team, Council Member Mario Castillo, Greater Northside Management District, and the Greater Heights Super Neighborhood Council at the corner of Weber Street and Houston Avenue to clean up the bikeways along Houston Avenue.

Lights in the Heights Bike Valet

The traffic and parking situation at Lights in the Heights is like getting a lump of coal in your stocking. Fortunately, BikeHouston is here to offer some holiday cheer: Ride your bike to the festivities and we’ll valet your bike for free.
We parked very few bikes at last year’s event due to rain, but we parked 150 bikes at Lights In The Heights in 2022. Help us beat that number! We’ll be set up on the Norhill Esplanade (between Bayland and Euclid) from 6 to 9 p.m.

I Love 11th Street Festival
Saturday, December 7
The I Love 11th Street festival returns for a second year. Join us at 11:30 a.m. for a ride to the festival, departing from Market Square Park at 11:30 a.m.
We’ll also be offering valet bike parking from 12 noon until 6 p.m. at Eight Row Flint.
Between 3 and 5 p.m., join the Bike Jam at Hogg Middle School, featuring a bike safety demonstration and bike decorating.
And at 6 p.m., join a ride led by Harris County Precinct 1 and BikeHouston
